Ecuador - Practicum

Ecuador is a developing country in South America, culturally (mestizo and indigenous groups) and geographically diverse (coast, mountains, and jungle). Cuenca lies toward the south of Ecuador in the Andes mountains and is largely Catholic. It is also a very traditional city, priding itself on its heritage and religion. In Cuenca, people are generally more conservative. Cuenca is also one of the most affluent and expensive cities in Ecuador. This fact, in part, makes Cuenca home to many of the needy Venezuelans who have sought political and financial refuge in Ecuador.
