Peru - Practicum

Tacna is a commercial city at the southern border with Chile. Surrounded by the dry, sandy hills of the Atacama Desert, it's located in a surprisingly fertile valley where many fruits and vegetables are grown. The Tacna region is a unique blend of coastal and mountain cultures, with many families having relocated from the higher areas like Puno and Cusco for better economic opportunities. Culturally, Peruvian cuisine is a great source of pride for the country, boasting popular dishes like lomo saltado, ceviche, and pollo a la brasa. Peru remains stable economically, but many families struggle.
