The Philippines is a densely populated, developing country. As a country colonized first by Spain for 300 years, then by the United States, Roman Catholicism has historically had a firm hold in the northern part of the country, but there is also an evangelical presence dating back several decades. Unfortunately, many evangelical churches are unhealthy, and cults are also prevalent. The south of the country is solidly Islamic.
